Pistons 115 Wizards 110 OT
I'm going to trying something new here tonight. I don't feel comfortable writing normally. I feel like I'm just saying what every other sports writer is. Were all just repeating the same stats, the same thoughts, what ever we have to say to make us look right. Here i go at doing the same thing they do by in my own way.
First Quarter
Maxiell started at Power Forward for this game. Which means Austin Daye won't play in the game at all. No matter how bad TayShaun Prince plays at the Small Forward position.
John Wall was active for this game but he didn't dress, thank god. Gilbert Arenas was impossible to stop from the get go. I can't imagine the Pistons have to guard both of them.
The Pistons started out the first quarter strong and ended strong winning twenty-four to seventeen.
Second Quarter
The second quarter is when the Wizards just pushed and pushed and pushed the ball and scored at will on the Pistons. Gilbert Arenas as hitting shots and making perfect passes. I honestly don't know how the pistons stayed in the game. They were scoring on hustle and skill alone. The Wizards almost never missed an open jumper during the whole second quarter.
Tracey McGrady seems to be back. Halfway thru the second quarter he caught and alley oop from Will Bynum and threw it down hard. His legs are back and there seem to be no after effects from the injury he suffered in the last game against the Lakers.
At this point in the game Javale McGee of the Wizards has started dunking on the Pistons. All of them, at once. He was a force of nature the whole game.
The Pistons defense didn't exist and they somehow kept up with the Wizards to the point they were only down fifty-two to fifty-five at the end of the first half.
Third Quarter
Rodney Stuckey started of the second half by getting a steal and going on the fastbreak for an easy two. The Wizards scoring started to slow down for the first part of the third quarter.
At this point i have noticed that Tayshaun Prince has missed a large chunk of his attempted shots. I wonder why Austin Daye doesn't get his minutes. Austin Daye is seriously talented Small Forward with Shooting Guard skills. He needs to get playing time in the right positions.
The Wizards get hot on bottom half of the third quarter and some how the Pistons manage to stay close and end the quarter down seventy-seven to seventy-eight.
Fourth Quarter
During the fourth quarter the Pistons kept falling behind but they would somehow fight back. All the close games they've been in this year have really taught them how to fight for the win. Whenever the Wizards got hot the Pistons would keep up with them.
Midway thru the fourth Quarter Fox Sports Detroit did a short piece about how Austin Daye and Charlie Villanueva were good friends off the court. I thought that was awesome. Just wanted to say that.
Charlie Villanueva put the team on his back in the fourth quarter and forced the Wizards into overtime. Charlie Villanueva was a force of nature whenever he was on the court. He deserves to start.
Charlie Villanueva drove the lane with under twenty-four seconds left and tied the game at one hundred and two a piece. The Wizards missed there chance to win and the game went to overtime with the score still tied the same.
Overtime
In overtime Rip Hamilton was just unconscious and would barely miss a jumper. He scored all but one point for the Pistons. Early on the Wizards still scored easily each time Rip did. Then the Pistons defense kicked in out of nowhere to constantly stop the Wizards. Rip scored enough points and the defense held up. The Pistons beat the Wizards in overtime one hundred and fifteen to one hundred and ten.

Pistons 90 Lakers 103
I would like to start out by saying fire are coach. Kuester has no idea how to manage the roster during the game. Also thinks Austin Daye is a power forward. Austin Daye has the skill set of a Kevin Durant and he needs to recognize that before he loses his job.
The first quarter started out like the last game. WIth Tayshaun Prince hogging the ball and taking the first couple shots. Only difference this time around is that he missed all the shots he took. The Pistons fell behind 7 points early in the first quarter but manged to stay behind lakers by only single digits. Then all hell broke loose when Richard Hamilton with no regard to human life DID NOT touch Kobe Bryant and got a foul because of that. Richard Hamilton after the call told the ref kindly that it was a bad call. The ref then gave Richard Hamilton a technical foul for complaining. Hamilton then replied back with "that's bullshit". The ref then gave Hamilton 5-10 years in a local jail and ejected him from the game.
After that Lakers just ran away with the game. Kuester just doesn't know how to manage the roster during the game. He didn't do much during the second quarter and by halftime the pistons were down 14 points.
During the second half Charlie Villanueva was used more and he really helped the team out. This begs the question though, why doesn't Charlie villanueva start? He plays so good, he has been a really good rebounder the last two games. Tonight ne scored 8 points with 4 rebounds. i know 4 rebounds doesn't seem like alot but he was really attacking missed shots like he did during the last warriors game. Tonight he faced Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, and Ron Artest and he fought for the ball constantly against them.
During the late second half Austin Daye really showed how talented he was. Sadly Kuester only plays Daye out of the 2 guard spot when there down 20 or more points. Austin Daye looked alot like Kevin Durant out there with the way he drove the lane and attacked the basket. He even hit some nice pull up jumpers. Daye finished with 12 points and a really nice rebounding night with 7 boards. He also had 2 blocks.
The fourth quarter was mostly played by the Lakers bench. At one point the pistons were only down 10 but the Lakers bench stepped there game up and finished out the game. Chris Wilcox got some end of game minutes and looked pretty good out there. But its safe to say he won't ever look that good again for the Pistons. The Pistons players worked really hard again but Kuester did another bad job coaching the team.
Final Thoughts
What i forgot to mention is that during the game Tracey McGrady got mad and attacked the hoop. On his way to attacking the hoop Shannon Brown of the Lakers tackled him mid ainr and rolled up on his ankle just something horrible after the play. McGrady was down on the ground for a few minutes. He got back up and made 1 of 2 freethrows then went to the bench. Tracey McGrady came back to play later in the game but I'm sure they'll do more checks on his ankle before the next game.
Im just going to lay these next things out quickly.
Play Austin Daye out the 2 guard spot. Live and die with him.
Start Charlie Villanuva. He is a future star for us.

Pistons 97 Warriors 101
Well the Pistons lost again. This ends there two game winning streak. I'm going to be honest with you, the refs blew the game. Also Kuester blew the game. The players blew game. Even we as fans blew the game. We as a Detroit Pistons organization just plain suck.
We as fans turned the channel when we were losing. We as coaches didn't do anything to stop the Warriors fastbreak. And we as players didn't do what it takes to win the game.
The pistons started the game strong with Tayshaun Prince scoring 6 of his 15 points right off the bat. It 21 -20 with 3 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter and the warriors exploded for 14 points to go up 21-34. Monta Ellis had 21 points of the warriors 34 at the end of the first quarter. Monta Ellis still only finished with 27 points because of foul trouble.
The 2nd quarter didn't change much at all as the warriors kept up there scoring steak at the beginning of the quarter. At one point the Pistons were down 32. Kuester refused to try any lineup changed or timeouts to slow down the streaking Warriors. The Warriors just ran and ran and ran on the pistons.
What really killed the pistons at this point wasn't really the fastbreak alone. The whole first half the Warriors ran a very strong 2-3 zone on defense and close down on anyone who came near the lane with the ball. The pistons didn't pass out for open shots at all. The 2-3 zone suffocated the Pistons offense and forced many turnovers. The only real reason the Pistons were able to fight back is because the Warriors got so far ahead that they stopped playing defense and let the Pistons start finding there offense.
What some people didn't catch was another argument between Prince and Kuester before the end of the half. Apparently something happened during halftime because Prince came out complaining alot during the shoot around then started the 2nd half.
The pistons main plan in the 3rd quarter was to run at the hoop and force as many fouls as possible. This plan seemed to work since they were able to bring the score somewhat closer slowly. The 3rd quarter had Daye hitting his 10th straight 3. Sadly he later on missed another 3 to end his streak. He was 3 away from the record for most consecutive 3s during a season before he missed is 3rd and last 3 attempt of the game later on. Ben Wallace also pulled out his trademark random baseline reverse layup off a spin off the defender at one point. The 3rd quarter ends with the score 68-87.
The Pistons had to fight back so much just to be this far down and they fought even harder in the last quarter. They held the foul ridden Warriors to only 14 points in the 4th quarter. At one point Charlie Villanueva hit 2 straight angry 3 pointers. He finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds.
With around 8 minutes left in the game Monta Ellis receives his 5th foul and is sat for most the 4th quarter which allows the pistons to fight back into the game. The Pistons are as close as 2 points at one point. The Pistons fought to have a chance at winning the game. But sadly all was lost when Ben Gordon dribbled the ball into the defenders hands and gave it away. Even after that the Pistons had multiple chances which they ruined by missing freethrows. Missed freethrows ruined all if any chances of them winning.
This game was a real heartbreaker for me. I live blogged the whole game and watched every minute of it. I kept watching when they were down 32. Every game the Pistons play there hearts out and anytime they lose its because Kuester doesn't do all he can to keep them in games. This game is just another learning experience for the Pistons. Up next we got the Lakers. Lets get it Pistons.

On a somewhat brighter note Austin Daye's consecutive 3 point streak ended today at 10. Austin Daye started and got 25 minutes of playing time. Oddly Kuester kept Daye off the floor at the end of the game. Daye finished with 14 Points 6 if which game from shooting 2-3 from behind the arch. He also threw in 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
Charlie Villanueva played a great game. I mean fantastic game. I have never seen him work so hard before. He was tackling rebounds Reggie Evans like. 6 of his 18 points game from a streak of 2 angry 3s. His rebounds were amazing. He jumped at a loose ball toward the very end to give the Pistons another chance at winning. He had 2 assists and 1 steal and 1 block to go along with his 18 points and 8 rebounds. He played his heart out. Charlie Villanueva should be starting.
Rodney Stuckey and Tayshaun Prince vs Kuester. What is there really to say about Stuckey. He plays a great game and wants to lead the team just as much as Kuester does. Prince feels the same way. Kuester needs to control the team thru coaching decisions and not by just yelling at them. Stuckey has been playing perfectly of late. Sadly the same cannot be said about Prince. he may of scored the first 6 points. But he had alot of key turnovers and missed alot of layups and simple plays on both sides of the ball. Prince needs to do better or Daye needs to start over him.
The Pistons players played great. Some coaching was lacking but in the end they still almost won. Players need to make more freethrows and Kuester needs to coach better.
Can't wait for the Lakers game. I got $5 on the Pistons winning.
We as fans turned the channel when we were losing. We as coaches didn't do anything to stop the Warriors fastbreak. And we as players didn't do what it takes to win the game.
The pistons started the game strong with Tayshaun Prince scoring 6 of his 15 points right off the bat. It 21 -20 with 3 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter and the warriors exploded for 14 points to go up 21-34. Monta Ellis had 21 points of the warriors 34 at the end of the first quarter. Monta Ellis still only finished with 27 points because of foul trouble.
The 2nd quarter didn't change much at all as the warriors kept up there scoring steak at the beginning of the quarter. At one point the Pistons were down 32. Kuester refused to try any lineup changed or timeouts to slow down the streaking Warriors. The Warriors just ran and ran and ran on the pistons.
What really killed the pistons at this point wasn't really the fastbreak alone. The whole first half the Warriors ran a very strong 2-3 zone on defense and close down on anyone who came near the lane with the ball. The pistons didn't pass out for open shots at all. The 2-3 zone suffocated the Pistons offense and forced many turnovers. The only real reason the Pistons were able to fight back is because the Warriors got so far ahead that they stopped playing defense and let the Pistons start finding there offense.
What some people didn't catch was another argument between Prince and Kuester before the end of the half. Apparently something happened during halftime because Prince came out complaining alot during the shoot around then started the 2nd half.
